Mary Sutherland, bulletin editor, Sacred Heart Parish
Our Lady of Guadalupe did so much for her people in Mexico that, in
1960, the Columbian Squires, a youth organization of the Knights of
Columbus, wanted to give something back to her.
The group of young men in Knights of Columbus Council 2312 in
Monterrey, Mexico, came up with the idea of running a rose to the Basilica
of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico. The rose was chosen to
commemorate Juan Diego and the miracle of the roses, an important part
of the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Today the silver rose travels throughout Canada, the USA, and Mexico enroute to Monterrey, Mexico.
Please join the Knights of Columbus following the 4:30 PM Mass this Saturday, June 12, to view the Silver Rose, pray a Rosary, and recite an Act of Consecration.
Right now, the Red Cross has an EMERGENCY NEED for Type O donors and a critical need for all other blood types!
We are having a Blood Drive at Sacred Heart,
Thursday, June 24, 10 am to 4 pm, in the social hall.
And, please contact Mary if you can volunteer at the drive.
